A bright star raced across the skies and fell to soon. But the glow of that bright light will be with us forever
Those who knew John Bankston understand that
completely. His sparkle and wit, his love for his friends, his
voracious love of racing and more, are better described by his many
friends. These traits are better represented in the
"Friends in Shock" link, which lists many of the posts from
various message boards, that were posted when they learned of John's
tragic end in a sprint car at Eldora in Ohio.
This is everyone's site... to share their
thoughts and stories and photos they might have. We are
hoping that more will share other stories on the message board,
and share photos by e-mailing them to either Carol of Steven (or if
you don't have access to a scanner, and you want to send the photo to
us, we promise to return it). When possible, with the photos, it
would be most helpful if you could include the photographers name, so
that we may give credit to him/her.
John's racing career spanned through 5 decades,
as he began racing in 1960. He has raced many types of cars, but
was noted for his modified and sprint car racing. He has always
held his fans in as high esteem as we did him. As you will
read... everyone loved and respected this man, and thoroughly enjoyed
being in his presence. As a friend wrote to me
recently: "Yesterday is in the past, tomorrow
is the future, but today is a GIFT. That's why it is called the
present! John bestowed many gifts upon you. Keep his
presence with you." That is the driving force
behind this web site... to keep the presence of John Bankston with us,
not only in our hearts, but in our total awareness as well.
